What to Expect
At Second Baptist Church you will discover an inclusive community of believers. From the moment you walk up to the building you can expect…
A Warm Greeting
Our greeters at each entrance are there to help you get settled and comfortable with our church. They will answer your questions and give you guidance in making your visit meaningful to you.
Enjoy a Beverage
You will find a coffee at our Welcome Center at our south-side entrance or ask a greeter to show you where to find a cold beverage. You may even find some goodies to enjoy!
Information Screens
Spend some time watching our video information screen placed at the Welcome Center and each classroom to learn about upcoming events and the many missions supported by our church.
Our Be the Light challenge encourages members to serve others in our community throughout the year. In order to discover and share where Second B’ers are serving others in our community, we placed a map of Lubbock near our south entrance on which we have marked all the locations that our members are serving to shine Christ’s light.
Fun
A warm and casual atmosphere where friendships can form and relationships deepen. A place that is serious about joy, true joy, the kind of joy that comes from real connection with God and others.
Expect to be noticed. Expect people to say something like, “Hi, we haven’t met before, is this your first time?”. Expect for people to reach out to you in love.
Bible Study
No matter your age; child, youth or adult; or personal circumstance, you will find a Bible Study class for you. Our Sunday Greeters will help you with classes available and their location. See a list of classes here.
Worship
We love music, fellowship and ministry. Our worship reflects the passion and diversity of our church body, combining the riches of the historic liturgical Christian tradition with creative elements from the contemporary world.
Wear whatever you feel is comfortable – some are in suits and others in shorts!
Vision
"then the lord replied: 'write down the vision and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it." - Habakkuk 2:2
In 2015, we began to reflect together about our church past and present, and our five years in the future. The 2020 Vision came; and we wrote it down for all to see. Six Provocative Proposals were written to make it plain. This is the church we believe God desires for us to be. Provocative Proposals
